MOTH AND YARROW

190.00

Moths are laden with symbolism across many cultures worldwide. Like its Lepidopteran counterpart the butterfly, the moth often symbolizes personal growth and transformation or metamorphosis. The key symbolic difference between moths and butterflies is that butterflies are diurnal whereas moths are nocturnal, allowing moths to manifest the shadowy side of the same transformative coin. Yarrow is an abundant and amazingly versatile wild plant that grows across much of the world in temperate Northern places. It has too many practical uses to name, including use as a mild stimulant and analgesic, as a replacement for coffee and to treat cuts and scratches. I love coming across a patch of delicate and friendly yarrow during a forest excursion. This piece is about transformation and healing, shedding away what no longer serves us and slowly building strength through patience and positivity.
